Greetings from sunny Barbados.
The feedback that we have had from our first few arrivals is that the protocols for travel that have been put in place by the Barbados Government have worked extremely well. For a seamless arrival experience it is highly recommended that passengers (including children over the age of 5) undertake a COVID-19 ‘PCR Test’ in the UK, 72hrs before the scheduled departure of their flight to Barbados. As a general rule, results are returned within 48hrs of the test being received at the lab. This does make timing important and we recommend that prior to booking a test, you confirm your requirements with the provider. Once you receive your test results, providing it is negative you can upload them on the mandatory Customs and Immigration form online 24 hrs before your arrival in Barbados. Testing is available on arrival in Barbados but this will involve significant delays as well as the requirement to isolate in alternative accommodation elsewhere on the island pending the results of the test.
As has become the new norm, whilst in the airports in the UK and Barbados, and whilst flying it is requirement that face masks must be worn.
A great source of the latest information relating to travel protocols is the Barbados tourism website www.visitbarbados.org . It is important to remember that these protocols continue to be updated regularly so please do check before travel.
Working from home in paradise.
We hope you’re all staying safe and well as we continue to navigate our way through these unprecedented times. The recent re-opening of Barbados and Royal Westmoreland provides much cause for positivity. Royal Westmoreland is currently one of only three luxury class resorts and hotels open on the island, which was declared Covid-free at the end of June and is one of several Caribbean nations on the UK’s list of airbridge destinations.
With this in mind, now could be the perfect time to pack your bags and jet off to the idyllic Platinum Coast of Barbados – and you could even have the chance to set up home in Barbados for longer if you wish.
Barbados’ Prime Minster, Mia Mottley, recently announced plans for a ‘12-month Barbados Welcome Stamp’ which would allow visitors to stay on the island for up to a year, enabling them to live and work from Barbados. Among the range of stunning properties available throughout the Royal Westmoreland estate, our Royal Apartments are perhaps the most unique, offering a range of one, two or three bedroom apartments, as well as luxury top floor penthouses. Boasting beautiful panoramic views of either the immaculately landscaped gardens or the azure Caribbean Sea, our luxury apartments feature colonial architectural designs, spacious covered terraces, and a large communal pool – and best of all, they could be yours in plenty of time to enjoy your year of working from paradise.
We’ve seen a 100% increase in ownership enquiries between April and July, compared with the same period last year, while holiday searches on our website have jumped by 105% and visits to the website have surged by 325%, suggesting there’s plenty of interest in moving the office to one of the most sought after locations in the Caribbean.
And as if that wasn’t appealing enough, Royal Westmoreland is also offering holidaymakers full refunds on their holiday if they purchase a property, either in full, or through our popular fractional ownership scheme, while on resort. If that sounds like an offer too good to turn down, head over to our Holidays Page to get the ball rolling on your own slice of paradise.
