6 Barbados Holiday Activities to Look Forward to in 2021

Royal Westmoreland Properties External

If the recent surge in holiday bookings is anything to go by, everyone is finally looking forward to jetting off to sunnier climes. As always, Barbados is proving to be a popular destination, so for those who have missed coming here over the last 12 months and those planning their first visit, we thought we’d remind you of some of the best Barbados holiday activities to look forward to in 2021.

  1. Getting back to the poolside

After a shivery winter across Europe and North America, the promise of hot weather and cool pools is a real temptation. Grab a good book, pour yourself a refreshing drink, sit back and soak up the sun. Sounds utterly blissful!

Of course, if you book your holiday here at Royal Westmoreland, you’ll also have your own private terrace to relax and dine on and either a communal pool shared with a small number of other guests or if you hire a villa, a pool all to yourself. You’ll also be able to sit and enjoy our magnificent, landscaped estate and the fabulous views of the Caribbean beyond.

  1. Great golf

If you’ve had little chance to practice your swing during the last year, Barbados has some fabulous, world-class golf courses to choose from. Pre-eminent among these is the championship standard Royal Westmoreland Golf Course designed by Robert Trent Jones Junior.

This par-72, 7,045-yard course is a golfing experience not to be missed, offering both excitement and challenge. As you’d expect, we also provide a pro shop, changing rooms, club and buggy hire, driving range, practice greens and everything else that makes a great day on the course. This includes our Clubhouse and Halfway House, where you can enjoy refreshments between the holes.

  1. Dining out

Dining out has been something of a rarity for most people over the last year and everyone is finally looking forward to getting their feet back under the restaurant table. Luckily, Barbados is a gourmet’s paradise with a wealth of exceptional eateries serving up an eclectic range of traditional Bajan and international cuisine.

Of particular note on the west coast is the chic Fusion Rooftop, in Holetown. This elegant penthouse restaurant offers alfresco dining under the stars, where you can enjoy fabulous dishes while being warmed by a magnificent firepit. Alternatively, head to the nearby Mullins Beach where the Royal Westmoreland Beach Club’s award-winning chefs will serve up sumptuous suppers to enjoy on the beachfront terrace. A great place to experience the amazing Caribbean sunsets.

  1. Divine spa treatments

Everyone deserves a jolly good pampering to soothe away the stresses and strains of 2020 and to reinvigorate our mojos. With our laid back approach to life, just being in Barbados is bound to help you unwind, but if you need to get yourself some serious and sensuous treatments, we’ve got spas aplenty – and excellent ones at that.

We particularly recommend the Singita Wellness Spa at Mullins Beach. Visitors to Singita will find themselves immersed in an utterly relaxing environment with tranquil lily pond patios and highly comfortable treatment rooms. Here, you can indulge in all your favourite treatments and, if you’re a Royal Westmoreland guest, take advantage of exclusive treatment packages. Should you feel a little more energetic, Singita Wellness also has a Yoga studio and an excellent gym.

  1. Great places to discover

Barbados has some fabulous places to visit and there is a myriad of activities and events to enjoy. From beautiful beaches to Bridgetown’s UNESCO World Heritage Site, snorkelling with turtles to sampling cocktails at the world’s oldest rum distillery, you’ll never be short of great things to do. And, depending on the time of year you come, there are so many festivals to enjoy, such as the famous Crop Over festival in August and the Food and Rum Festival at the end of October. For foodies, this latter festival is a fantastic way to experience international and local chefs and Barbadian culture and cuisine.

  1. A fab place to stay

Perched on the exclusive west coast, overlooking the Caribbean, and within easy access of the entire island, Royal Westmoreland offers guests the most prestigious holiday address in Barbados.
