The best beach bars in Barbados
There’s nothing better than unwinding on a beautiful beach with a drink in hand. Luckily, Barbados has plenty of beach bars where you can do just that.
The island is known as the rum capital of the world, so whether you’ve got a sweet tooth or prefer something with a bit more of a bite, there’s an endless list of rums and tropical cocktails for you to try!
Here are the best places on the island to order a drink as you sunbathe and watch the world go by until the sun sets.
Mullins Beach Bar & Restaurant
A haven of pure bliss, Mullins Bay Beach is one of the finest stretches of golden sands on the whole of Barbados. So it’s only natural that the Mullins Beach Bar & Restaurant serves up some delicious alcoholic beverages to quench your thirst, as well as aromatic local cuisine – you’ll never need to leave!
Take a boat tour around the island from Mullins Beach or burn some energy trying out the many watersports, then relax at the bar with a cold refreshment to watch the sunset. The bar is perfectly set on the island, with stunning views across the ocean, making it the ideal romantic place to go with your partner. We offer a shuttle service that takes you from your Royal Westmoreland accommodation straight to Mullins Beach, so there’s no excuse not to enjoy it!
JuJu’s Beach Bar
Tucked away on the island’s west coast, JuJu’s offers exactly the kind of friendly atmosphere and laid-back vibe that you’d expect from a Caribbean bar. It’s a cosy retreat and a great swimming spot, just round the corner from Holetown and Bridgetown. Take a dip in the sea and snorkel to the nearby reef or swim with the turtles, then kick back with some authentic grilled fish dishes – including Barbados’ national symbol, flying fish, and what are considered ‘the best homemade fries in Barbados’.
The bar is loved by locals and tourists alike, so it can get quite busy throughout the day, but it’s worth the wait for the delectable cocktails – the barmen really know how to mix things up and many of the rums pack a definite punch!
The Tiki Bar
Experience the life and soul of the Caribbean by visiting The Tiki Bar on Accra Beach in Christ Church. Coined ‘the home of the rumheads’, the bar offers up everyone’s favourite tropical cocktails as well as a few unique ones of their own mixing. Drink yours straight from the coconut to really embrace the island’s culture!
Surrounded by coconut trees and comfy lounge chairs, you can make the most of the sun, sea, and sand with a drink in hand at The Tiki Bar. And the chilled-out reggae will quickly become the soundtrack to your afternoons here.
Copacabana Beach Bar
For a quieter retreat, the calm waters of Carlisle Bay are the perfect setting for the Copacabana Beach Bar. Known for its rich history, Carlisle Bay has many reefs and shipwrecks to explore. Take a break at the bar for some chilled-out vibes and some of the best views out across the coastline.
The courtyard area is sometimes rented out for private parties, but if it’s not booked it’s a superb sunbathing and drinking spot. At Copacabana every hour is happy hour, so make sure you grab a drink or three. Their Piña Coladas and Daiquiris are especially recommended, and if you fancy a bite to eat their barbecued chicken is not to be missed!
Sharkey’s Bar at the Backyard
Playing up to the tropical sea theme, Sharkey’s is a vibrant bar with happy hours aplenty. Located at The Boatyard in Carlisle Bay also, the bar rents out a number of watersport related equipment, including an ocean trampoline, to try between drinks.
If you choose one drink here, make it the bar’s special – the Shark Bite. The tropical drink is a mix of Blue Curacao, Grenadine, Spiced Rum, Light Rum and Sweet & Sour Mix. It definitely has a bite to it!
